“Amber Martin in Reba’s Redneck Riviera”
This beloved tribute to country music legend Reba McEntire is a long time cult favorite, featuring all the quirky lip-syncing, big-haired wigs, fashion faux pas’, and beautiful soaring live vocals you’d expect from a show centered around this iconic superstar & certified Barrel-Racing Queen of Country Music. The sheer lunacy will bowl you over, but the real showstopper is the heartfelt musical performance by celebrated international vocalist Amber Martin.
Bio:
Amber Martin is an internationally acclaimed, NYC-based vocalist and comedic cabaret star, greatly inspired in the traditions of Lily Tomlin, Carol Burnett, Bette Midler, Linda Ronstadt & Dolly Parton. Compositionally, her inspirations are often drawn from luminary songwriters, Judee Sill, Todd Rundgren, Joan Armatrading & Laura Nyro. Her “Drammy Award” winning shows have been likened to “watching Ruth Draper after she’s come back from an acid trip during which she thought she was Janis Joplin”. Amber has been named one of the top performers of the year by The New Yorker. Onstage, Amber is a powerful, chameleonic vocalist with a deep love for classic American rock, synth-pop, funk, disco & country music, which deeply informs her own original songbook. Amber serves up a stylish combo of saucy cabaret, pitch-perfect vocals, ballsy comedy and relatable stories with her live, raw, genre-hopping musical performances, casting light on her uniqueness from her own contemporaries, and bringing a diverse range of inclusive, button-pushing entertainment to her equally diverse audiences.
Most recently, Amber released her own new all-original, classic style Country album, “Unbreakable Heart”, with songs by herself, Rufus Wainwright, John Cameron Mitchell & Jake Shears, who also duet on the album with Amber. Having been featured on Andy Cohen's ‘Watch What Happens Live” on Bravo & “Sandyland” on Sirius XM, she will be debuting these wonderful new songs in her upcoming Winter & Summer tours!
Amber's collaborations include belting the backing vocals on The Scissor Sisters single “Inevitable” from their album, “Magic Hour” (Sony), as well as in the hit single, "Too Much Music", on Jake Shears' newest album, “Last Man Dancing” (Mute). Amber guest starred in John Cameron Mitchell's sold out international “Origin of Love” Tour, including Australia's Sydney Opera House), S. Korea, Mexico, on Broadway & all over the US. She also appeared on Broadway in “Tales of the City” at the Music Box Theater. Amber and John Cameron Mitchell are currently touring their own co-written live variety show,“Cassette Roulette”, having hugely successful runs at MASS MoCA, BRIC/Celebrate Brooklyn, Austin, San Francisco, Los Angeles & ongoing residencies at Joe's Pub NYC. She was also the featured special guest in Jake Shears' UK album release tour, where she sang her new single, "Devil Came Down The Dance Floor" on the “BBC One Show” & all over the UK, co-written with Jake & featured on his album, “Last Man Dancing”.
She also continues to evolve as writer, curator and star of her own solo shows, such as her acclaimed international performance series': “Bathhouse Bette: A Musical Celebration of Early Bette Midler” (Oasis SF, Adelaide Cabaret Fest, Joe's Pub NYC, Rude Mechs Austin & Atlantis Cruises), “Reba's Redneck Riviera: A Rowdy Round-up of Reba’s Hits & Misses”, “Amber Alert!” (Wild Project NYC, Joe's Pub & Allways Cabaret NOLA), “Janis:Undead” (Joe's Pub, Oasis SF, Adelaide Cabaret Fest & Southeast Texas Music Hall of Fame).
